My Story

My passion for education and gender equality is inspired by my own personal story.

Today, as a French-Malian Education and Gender Specialist, I am an advocate for Women’s Rights and a Social Entrepreneur aiming at empowering African women.

But first and above all, I am a daughter to a mother who, despite her own strong ambition and bold dreams, had to drop out of school 40 years ago—against her will, for lack of resources. I witnessed the far-reaching consequences of this throughout my life. My mother’s experience motivated me to become a true advocate for others like her, whose opportunities have been limited due to gender issues and inequality.

That’s why, after extensive work and volunteer experience in over 15 African countries, and setting aside a private sector career in finance, I co-founded Suadela. Our organization aims to improve African girls’ competence to decide and act, by building their negotiation skills. From its start in Mali, Suadela’s ongoing mission is twofold: to contribute to a direct impact on girls, and to a systemic change in society.
